Jail Sucks!
But We Can Help by Giving a Little
But We Can Help by Giving a Little
Many of you may know that Stephanie Landa created Landa Prison Outreach Program (LPOP) while spending nearly 4 years in federal prison for growing city-sanctioned medical cannabis. Stephanie was 60 years old when she was thrown in jail. She knows firsthand what it is like to be a victim of this war on drugs.
Stephanie is a medical cannabis patient and has been using the medicinal herb for many years now to relieve her symptoms including chronic pain from a serious shoulder injury. Stephanie is finally out from behind bars and she wants to help other prisoners through these difficult times. And you can help by giving just a little.
Her organization, LPOP, is seeking postage sponsors or donations of stamps. LPOP collected over 1000 letters and 500 petition signatures at the THC Expose and we have packages ready to mail to 22 Prisoners Of (the drug) War (POWs) BUT WE NEED POSTAGE.
You can help. No gift is too small. One book of stamps costs $8.80 and can mean our POWs get to hear from the outside. Stephanie can attest to how important letters are to inmates, even from strangers.
She received mail from people she had never met before going to prison and from dear friends as well. It meant the world to her. Every day when they called out the mail, it would make her happy to hear her name called. Think of how easy it is to brighten someone’s day that live in the most unbright situation imaginable.
Also, $10 gifts can help Stephanie send 8 books into prison libraries, so our POWs have good reading material while they are trapped by our own government. Stephanie received a generous gift of books but cannot afford to mail them to prisons.
These small things mean the world to our friends who are locked up. Please send Stephanie a private message if you can help in any amount (letfreedomgrow@yahoo.com) or text/call 818-652-7891.
Also contact Stephanie if you would like to get the name(s) of medical cannabis patients who are currently behind bars. LPOP also does court support for defendants facing prison time. Keep up with LPOP on facebook to find out more ways to help.

The title and some other parts of this blog were originally written by Jessica Gelay and Stephanie Landa on facebook. I took what they wrote and expanded on it, in hopes of helping others understand LPOP and their needs a little better. Thanks Jessica and Stephanie!
